What is your working title of your book?
Freshman Fangs, book one in the Teenage Vampire series.

What would you do if you were now a member of the undead, about to enter your high school career as a Freshman? Isn't high school hard enough, without having to deal with blood lust?

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
This will probably be a self-published work.

Actually, I am still working on it, going on 4 months.

It is being compared to twilight.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?
I work at a movie theater, so I see a lot of teenagers constantly. They were my biggest inspiration.

Bullying, being as that is a big topic in todays society.

Happy Thanksgiving

I might not be able to get on to post much tomorrow, we are heading to Dominic's parents house for Thanksgiving and every year I wake up to watch the Parade on TV. I can't believe its Thanksgiving already! Before you know it -- it will be Christmas, then New Years when my baby boy turns 2!! I can't believe how fast these last 2 years have gone.

What I am thankful for this year: my kids, my daughter especially in how well she is doing in school, my fiancee, my writing...

What are you thankful for??

First IEP Meetings

This morning I had my daughters' first ever IEP meeting, where I met with all her therapists and psychologists  and teachers at her school to see where she was academically. Let's just say Anna is doing AMAZING. They want to put her in regular ed classes for 1/2 to an hour a day, which is awesome. If you didn't know, my daughter has autism, and with her only being in school for 2 months, this is amazing news!

We also peeked in on her while she was in library. She listens to directions very well, and was the only student to go get her books and sit down quietly. I am so proud of her!!

I know she is going to do well, my goal for her is to be in regular classes full time in the future. I hope she can, she is so smart. Within two months she learned how to draw faces and cats, spell her name, etc. Stuff she never knew how to before, it is a relief to see her advancing so soon.

That is all for now, oh yeah and I now have a goodreads author page! Go check it out ;)

"Freshman Fangs" Chapter 1 FIRST LOOK

Hello all! Inspiration hit me last night at work, so I started scribbling in my notebook in my down time! I came up with a pretty cool concept, that has probably been done before, but I went with it! I never tried written vampire fiction before, so I will see where it leads! Now, without further ado, I give you the first chapter in the "Freshman Fangs" first book:

C H A P T E R I

“I triple dog dare you!” Kristy Monroe, my best friend since Pre-Km whispered as we sat in my room, listening to Hot Chelle Ray on blast.
“If my mom catches me at Deadman’s Path, I’m dead! I would be grounded for a month for sure.”
Deadman’s Path was a popular hot spot for daring youth. A lot of kids snuck there, against parent’s wishes, to spot the “ghost” that guarded the path.
“Oh come on, Kay!” Kristy knew I would eventually agree to her dare.
I rolled my eyes, “Fine. My mom better not find out.”
“And, you have to do it alone!” She smirked.
I threw my pillow at her, “You’re insane!”
                “Sneak out the window?”
I sighed; I knew there was no way of getting out of this dare. Kristy was very persistent when we played truth or dare, and if you picked dare, she wouldn’t let it drop until you agreed. “When mom leaves for bingo.”

We watched mom get into our blue station wagon, and drive out of sight. She went to bingo every Friday night; I secretly thought she was going to meet up with some mystery man. She hasn’t seen a guy since dad left. I opened my window, and we both slid down the rain gutter. Without making a sound, we darted out of my back yard. My grandmother was babysitting me and my little sister, Tessa. Gram had supersonic hearing.

Deadman’s Path always scared me to death, the way it was abandoned most of the time. Except, when teenagers decided to get their jollies on walking the path by themselves, the ones that clearly had no brain, like me. Kristy and I recognized two girls who were at the base of the path, Alison O’Donnell and Jessica Thomas. They were two of the popular girls in middle school, and that popularity was following them to high school.
“What are you two nerds doing here?” Alison asked, laughing.
“Kayla is going to walk the path,” Kristy smiled, putting her arm around my shoulder.
I rolled my eyes, Jessica and Alison both looked at me. “This nerd is going to walk Deadman’s Path? Alone? You’re bluffing.” Jessica shook her head in disbelief.
“Fine, don’t believe me.” I walked past them, looking into the black abyss.
“I dared her,” Kristy mentioned “Kayla isn’t afraid of anything,”
“No one in their right mind would go in there alone, unless you were some dumb jock,” Alison rolled her eyes.
“Watch me,” I looked back at them, waved to Kristy, and began to go through the darkened jungle.
I noticed Alison and Jessica clinging to each other, and Kristy just smiling by herself. She knew that if I made it through Deadman’s Path without being killed, I would be a legend. And since we both didn’t believe in this ghost of the path business, it was most likely I would return a victor.

It was really cold on the path, which seemed odd because it was the end of summer. But, this path was so cold; it felt like a winter’s Night. I couldn’t see the road in front of me, so I just walked this way and that. Eventually, I had known I had gotten lost. Not being able to see where I am stepping, I was starting to get scared.
Owls were hooting at me, and spiders were falling on me. Everything was making me jump and twitch. I crouched to the ground, hugging my knees to my chest. I could see my breath, and hearing the slightest sound made me paranoid. I heard a branch snap, which made me stand straight up and look around.
“Who’s there?” I shouted, hoping to scare off any wild animal that was staring me down for dinner.
“Hush, hush.” A deep voice came from the blackness.
“I said who’s there! I know karate!” Luckily, my predator wouldn’t know that I couldn’t even harm a fly.
“Hush, hush,” The voice said again.
The voice stepped into view, his whole body was glowing. He looked to be about sixteen, and he had a pasty white complexion and dark brown hair that stood in spikes. His eyes, his gorgeous eyes, were bright baby blue, and I just fell into them as I stared.
“Who-who’re you?” I stood, mesmerized by his perfection.
“Deryk,” He walked over to me, placing a delicate hand on my cheek “You?”
“K-Kayla,” I gulped, “Kayla Van Gayte.”
“Well, Miss Van Gayte, what brings you to this path?” He smiled, showing pearly white teeth. He was gorgeous.
“My b-best friend, K-Kristy…she dared me to walk this path alone,” I couldn’t stop staring into his eyes, “Are you the ghost?”
He looked shocked a bit, and then laughed. He shook his head, “Anything but, Miss Van Gayte.”
He was so proper, and he dressed as though he was from the 1600’s. I wondered why he was wondering this path alone, “Why are you walking this path alone? I never seen you around before, are you new?”
Deryk shook his head, “Nah, my family lives in the center of this path. I’m home schooled.”
“Wow, I never knew people actually were home schooled,” I laughed. His eyes seemed to just glow now, like the rest of his body.
                “Stare…into my eyes…” He whispered.
                I complied, I couldn’t complain, they were gorgeous.  “Okay…”
“You are a very pretty girl, Kayla,” His smiles made me melt.
                I think I blushed, “I’m nothing special,”
“This is going to make it less painful, just stare into my eyes…please…”
“Make what less painful?” Panic hit me. This was it. He was going to kill me.
“Close your eyes,” He whispered into my ear.
I nodded and let my eyes fall shut. That was all I remembered.

Literary Agent

Currently I am looking for a literary agent. One I can turn to when I need help with my writing, and to get feedback and support. If anyone has anyone they would love to recommend, send them my way by email xoheatherannee@gmail.com or following on twitter @xheatheranne!

I am having a yard sale this weekend, going to be selling old avon products from when I was an avon rep, some old odds and ends and some handmade items I personally made :) Hoping to make enough to get my fiance a new cell (his broke) and my laptop screen (been without it for a month!!). Ugh. Money is tight right now, but hopefully this sale works out awesome in our favor!

Speaking of favor, the Hunger Games is almost out on DVD! Hurray!

Book Cover Concept & In Need of Editor

This is the book cover concept, that I made myself :) I like it! The only thing that would complete it would be a picture of Emma in the right corner with a speech bubble.

I'm not sure if I am just going to drop my last name as a pen name, or come up with something creative. What are your thoughts? To all the writers out there, how do you come up with your pen name? Inquiring minds would like to know!

Also, I am in desperate need of an editor. I excel at spelling, but lets face it: I went to a South Philadelphia elementary school, and I am severely learning disabled. I suck at grammar! Haha. Seriously it took me forever to realize grammar was spelled with an A and not an E.

If someone out there in the internet world would love to help a sista out, please email me at xoheatherannee@gmail.com! It would mean a lot to me :) I can email you my story, or you can read it on fictionpress. Whichever!

Well, that's it for now :) Toodles!

Later Days!

Welcome to my humble abode

Hey all! I'm Heather, and upcoming author working on my first REAL novel. It's called Pink Locker Society, and it's about Emma and Abby's journey through high school. It's gonna become a series of books, so here I will give you a synopsis of the first book:

Emma and Abby are starting their freshmen year at Kennedy High School. They are the best of friends, and they made a vow to each other that High School wouldn't change them. But, Emma didn't count on meeting Junior Heartthrob, Jaime Vast. Emma and Abby are also picked on by the populars, Cassidy and Melinda, they are the most popular girls and practically run the school. They are the evil queens.
Emma and Abby have enough of Cassidy and Melinda's evil doings on picking on the under class, or as they call them "Fresh Meat". So, Emma and Abby form a club that meets at Emma's house once a week, they are known as the "Pink Locker Society". Only two other girls join, punk rocker Daisy Lane and wallflower Carla McKenzie.
And the Pink Locker Society is determined to take down Cassidy, Melinda, and their minions.

That pretty much sums up the first book, there are going to be more twists and turns, but I do not want to give away too many details! Alright, so this is enough to hold you over while I focus on fixing this blog up. Please R&R my story on fictionpress: www.fictionpress.com/heatheranne its also a place where you can get a sneak peak on the chapters before they get taken down for revamping! Until next time.
